All Saints' Church, Cheltenham, Victorian Gothic parish church in Cheltenham, England
All Saints' Church is a parish church with French Gothic architectural style constructed between 1865 and 1868. The structure comprises a five-bay aisled nave with clerestory windows, transepts on both sides, and an apsed chancel with porches on the north and south.
Architect John Middleton designed the church starting in 1865 and it opened in 1868 as a new parish place of worship. The structure gained Grade I listed status in 1955 due to its architectural merit and historical value.
The south transept window displays decorative glasswork created from Edward Burne-Jones designs by the Morris & Co workshop. This artistic piece reflects how Victorian craftsmen brought detailed beauty into religious spaces.
The church welcomes visitors on Saturdays and during the Heritage Open Weekend throughout the year. Regular services are broadcast online through North Cheltenham Team Ministry for those who prefer to participate remotely.
Adolph von Holst, father of renowned composer Gustav Holst, worked as organist here from 1866 to 1894. He performed on a William Hill & Son organ, an instrument known for its fine craftsmanship during that era.
