Byfleet Manor, Country house in Surrey, England.
Byfleet Manor is a country house in Surrey with stone walls and gate piers that were created during a major restoration in 1905. The asymmetrical wings were added at that time to enlarge the building and give it a new character.
The manor began as a royal hunting lodge and passed to Piers Gaveston in the medieval period. In 1617, Anne of Denmark commissioned a new house to be built on the site, which shaped its future course.
The manor has gained recognition through its appearances in television and film productions, becoming a filming location for several well-known dramas. Visitors can see the rooms that appeared on screen and experience this cinematic side of the house's story.
The manor is open to visitors throughout the year and offers guided tours and themed tea parties on different occasions. It is advisable to check ahead for current opening days and any registration requirements.
A hidden room was discovered inside the house in February 2013 after remaining concealed for decades. This unexpected discovery added a new dimension to the manor's long history.
