Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre, Maritime history museum in Scarborough, England
The Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre contains exhibits highlighting local fishing industry, shipbuilding practices, and naval history through artifacts and photographs.
Founded in December 2009, the museum preserves records of maritime activities, including documentation of the 1914 German battlecruiser bombardment of Scarborough.
The museum collects stories from fishing families and maritime workers, maintaining records of traditions and practices that shaped the coastal community.
Located at 45 Eastborough, the centre opens Wednesday through Friday from 11 AM to 4 PM and provides educational resources for school groups.
The collection includes 50,000 photographs documenting regional maritime history, gathered primarily by local historian George Coull.
