Kibbor, Administrative hundred in Glamorgan, United Kingdom
Kibbor was an administrative hundred in Glamorgan that brought together eight parishes including Caerau, Cardiff St John, Cardiff St Mary, Llandaff, Llanedeyrn, Llanishen, Lisvane, and Roath. These areas formed a large territorial division in South Wales that organized local governance across the region.
The Laws in Wales Acts of 1535 established this hundred as an administrative division of Glamorgan and incorporated the earlier Welsh commote of Kwmwd Kibwr. This reorganization followed the union of Wales with England and created a new framework for territorial division.
In 1841, Kibbor recorded a population of 12,710 residents, with most inhabitants originating from Glamorgan and others from England, Scotland, and Ireland.
In the 1841 census, the area contained around 2,272 inhabited houses and 59 uninhabited structures, with an additional 51 buildings under construction. These figures give a sense of the settlement patterns and development taking place at that time.
The territory was formed by combining the ancient Welsh commote of Ceibwr within the Senghenydd cantref with the addition of the parish of Llandaff. This blending of older Welsh structures with subsequent administrative changes makes the origins of this division distinctive.
