Wogan House, Broadcasting office in Fitzrovia, London, England
Wogan House is a seven-story office building located at 99 Great Portland Street in Fitzrovia with large windows that flood the spaces with natural light. The structure contains multiple work areas and was designed to serve as a broadcasting production facility for several decades.
Originally known as Western House, the building housed the BBC Engineering Designs Department from 1953, where engineers worked on pioneering color television transmissions across the Atlantic. This technical foundation shaped how the space was later adapted for modern broadcasting operations.
The building housed BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6 Music from 2006 to 2024, serving as a working broadcast center where programs reached millions of listeners across the UK. The location became synonymous with these popular radio stations during that period.
The building provides multiple meeting rooms equipped with video conferencing, kitchen facilities, and bike storage for visitors and staff. Continuous security monitoring is maintained, and the location offers good pedestrian access from nearby public transportation stops.
The building was the home base for Terry Wogan's famous radio show and hosted the final BBC Radio 2 broadcast from the location in February 2024. Wogan's recorded version of The Floral Dance marked the end of a significant chapter in British broadcasting.
