Nottingham Ice Stadium, Indoor ice rink in Nottingham, England
Nottingham Ice Stadium was an indoor ice rink with a regulation-size skating surface and seating for approximately 2800 spectators during events. The facility was designed to accommodate both professional ice hockey competitions and recreational public skating.
The venue first opened in 1939 and was repurposed as a munitions storage facility during World War II. After the war it returned to recreational use until the building was demolished in 2000.
The venue held deep roots in British ice sports culture and served as a proving ground for athletes who would go on to achieve national recognition. Visitors could witness the hub of a dedicated ice skating community and the passion people brought to winter sports.
The venue was accessible to spectators with both reserved and general admission seating available during events. Visitors were advised to check event schedules in advance and arrive early to secure a good vantage point.
The building earned the nickname 'The Barn' among ice hockey teams, a moniker reflecting how formidable it was as a visiting opponent's venue. This reputation came from the competitive edge the home team enjoyed during the 1980s.
