Dudsbury Camp, Community center in Dorset, England
Dudsbury Camp is a community center spread across 15 acres in Dorset with two heated buildings, camping areas, and outdoor facilities beside the River Stour. It provides spaces for group activities along with separate camping zones equipped with toilets, showers, and solid shelters.
The site sits upon an Iron Age hillfort with double ramparts and defensive ditches that formed part of an ancient fortification network across Dorset. The land was provided in 1930 by Lord Wimborne to create space for youth organizations.
The center has served the Girl Guides since 1930, when it became their gathering place for youth activities and outdoor programs. Over the decades, it has grown into a social hub where young people come together to learn skills and build friendships in a natural setting.
The site is best visited during warmer months when outdoor facilities operate fully and camping is more comfortable. Visitors should plan ahead for transportation since the location is somewhat remote and having your own way to get there helps.
The center features a reconstructed Celtic roundhouse within the ancient earthworks, allowing visitors to explore old building techniques and daily life from that era. This structure connects archaeological history with hands-on learning opportunities for groups.
