Boone's Chapel, Grade I listed chapel in Lee, London Borough of Lewisham, United Kingdom.
Boone's Chapel is a small red brick chapel in Lee featuring Portland stone detailing, rusticated quoins, and a pyramidal roof with an open wood cupola at its apex. The building sits adjacent to the former Merchant Taylors almshouses and now houses an architect's office.
Christopher Boone commissioned Sir Christopher Wren to design this chapel in 1683 during a period of rebuilding following the Great Plague. The structure underwent various alterations over the centuries while maintaining its architectural integrity.
This chapel served as a gathering place for the local community of Lee and remains a notable landmark that defines the character of the High Road with its distinctive presence.
The chapel opens to visitors only for select days throughout the year, so checking dates in advance is advisable. The location is easily accessible by public transport and sits directly on Lee High Road.
A small physic garden was added to the chapel grounds during a 2008 restoration project funded through community fundraising efforts. This garden reflects the historical connection between places of worship and botanical knowledge that dates back centuries.
