Frampton Court, Georgian mansion in Frampton on Severn, England
Frampton Court is a Georgian mansion built from Bath stone, surrounded by gardens and an ornamental Dutch canal. The main building contains numerous rooms and reception spaces, ranging from late Jacobean-era chambers to later additions.
The Clifford family received the estate through a land lease in 1320, and the current mansion was rebuilt in 1731 from Bath stone. This rebuilding marked a major shift from an older structure to a Georgian-style residence.
The house displays architectural features from different eras, ranging from Jacobean wall panels to Gothic elements in the orangery. Visitors experience these layered design styles while walking through the rooms and gardens.
The gardens open to visitors during spring and summer months, so plan your visit ahead. The grounds are easy to navigate, allowing you to explore both the interior rooms and outdoor areas at a relaxed pace.
The estate includes an octagonal dovecote from the mid-1700s and a granary topped with a distinctive lantern structure. These two outbuildings once formed part of Manor Farm and reflect the working agricultural heritage of the place.
