Wykehurst Place, Gothic Revival mansion in Bolney, England.
Wykehurst Place is a Gothic Revival mansion in Bolney featuring turrets, arches, and conical roofs modeled after Loire Valley chateaux. A long terrace extends from the building and overlooks the gardens that slope away behind it.
Edward Middleton Barry designed the building in 1871 and completed it in 1874 for banker Henry Huth. The estate became Grade II* listed and remains a notable example of Victorian architecture.
The mansion has served as a filming location for movies since the 1960s, giving it a presence in cinema history. This use brought the building recognition beyond its architectural importance.
The main entrance is marked by large black wrought iron gates decorated with griffins, located on the east side. Access is straightforward from the London-Brighton road that passes nearby.
Iranian writer Ebrahim Golestan owned the property from 1984 until 2023. This ownership brought perspectives from outside British cultural circles to the estate.
