St Michael's Church, Huyton

St Michael's Church is an Anglican place of worship in Huyton, standing at the corner where Bluebell Lane meets Huyton Lane. Built of stone, it features a tower with a spire and displays medieval architectural elements throughout.

During restoration work in 1872, archaeologists uncovered fragments of columns and a baptismal font dating from Anglo-Saxon or early Norman times. These remains lay beneath the present structure, pointing to a much older predecessor on the site.

Named after the Archangel Michael, the building serves as a parish place of worship within the Liverpool Diocese. Services take place on Thursday mornings and Sundays, bringing together members of the local faith community.

The site has no dedicated parking, but spaces are available on Stanley Road and surrounding streets nearby. For wheelchair users, a layby on Huyton Lane offers easier access to the entrance.

Architectural components from the 14th through the 19th centuries coexist within a single structure, offering a cross-section of English ecclesiastical design. Each century left its mark, visible in the different styles and building techniques that layer the walls.
