St Theodore's Church, Grade II* listed church in Port Talbot, Wales
St Theodore's Church is a Grade II* listed church building in Port Talbot, Wales, built in Early English style with Bath stone walls. The interior features a Portland stone pulpit and houses stained glass windows along with other decorative elements.
The church was funded by Miss Emily Charlotte Talbot as a replacement for the former Holy Cross Church, dedicated to her brother Theodore Mansel Talbot. It was consecrated in 1897, marking an important moment in the religious life of the town.
The interior contains stained glass windows created by Clayton and Bell that fill the space with colored light. These works and the memorials inside give the building a sense of remembrance and devotion.
The church is located on Talbot Road opposite Maes-y-Cwrt Terrace and next to Talbot Memorial Park, making it easy to find and access. The main entrance on Talbot Road welcomes visitors who wish to explore the building and its interior.
The organ inside was built by Charles Martin of Oxford and represents his largest and final work, installed before the 1897 consecration. This instrument was funded through public donations, making it a rare example of community-supported Victorian craftsmanship.
