Llwyn-celyn Farmhouse

Llwyn-celyn features red sandstone walls, stone tile roofs, and a traditional cross-passage design leading to an original medieval great hall.

The farmhouse was constructed around 1480 as an open hall house with a storeyed end and solar block, receiving modifications in the 17th century.

The architecture reflects the social hierarchy of medieval Wales through its layout, with separate spaces for different household activities and social classes.

The Landmark Trust completed a £4.5 million restoration of the building in 2018, preserving its historical features for future generations.

The roof structure contains original arched braced collar beam trusses that still display medieval smoke blackening from the open hearth period.
