Fox and Pheasant, Historic pub in Chelsea, London, United Kingdom
The Fox and Pheasant is a pub in Chelsea, London, made up of traditional bar rooms with wooden furniture and a conservatory with a glass roof. The building sits on a quiet side street in Chelsea, close to the river.
The building went up in the late 1840s on land previously belonging to a local landowner, and it carried different names over the years, including Bedford Arms and Prince of Wales. It took its current name in 1965 and has kept it ever since.
The pub has a conservatory with a glass roof that feels different from the traditional bar rooms, giving visitors two distinct spaces to sit in. The wooden paneling and vintage details in the bar area are the kind of decor that has defined the English local pub for generations.
The pub serves food at lunch and dinner, and booking ahead is a good idea on Sundays when demand tends to be higher. The location in a side street means it is best found on foot or with a map.
Singer James Blunt bought the pub in 2017 and carried out a full renovation before it reopened in 2018. Despite the work, the building kept much of its original look, including the period details that make it feel like a place from another era.
