Haigh Hall Miniature Railway, Rideable miniature railway in Haigh Country Park, England.
Haigh Hall Miniature Railway is a rideable miniature railway in Haigh Country Park operating on 15-inch gauge tracks that wind through woodland for about one mile. Two stations, Haigh Hall South and Haigh Hall North, serve as boarding points for passengers who travel aboard these small but fully functional trains.
The line opened in July 1986 as a new attraction within the park and operated for many years. Major renovation work was completed, and the railway reopened under new management in April 2014.
The railway showcases locomotives that reflect how people have enjoyed model engineering and narrow-gauge railways for generations. Visitors can see the care that goes into maintaining these machines, which represent a passion shared by railway enthusiasts across different communities.
Trains run on weekends and school holidays from 11 am to 4 pm, with passengers boarding at either station depending on which direction they prefer. Wear comfortable clothes and bring an umbrella for rainy days, since you will be traveling through open countryside with little shelter from the weather.
A three-road engine shed at Haigh Hall South station serves as the maintenance base where locomotives are kept and repaired. Visitors passing by can often see the machines being worked on, offering a glimpse into the ongoing upkeep these model trains require.
