Frankfurt Christmas Market, Birmingham, Christmas market in Birmingham city center, United Kingdom.
The market runs from Victoria Square to New Street with around 180 wooden stalls arranged in traditional style. Handcrafted goods, Christmas decorations, and regional foods are sold throughout, reflecting the characteristic German market tradition.
The event was founded in 2001 following a partnership agreement between Frankfurt and Birmingham established in 1966. Since then it has grown into one of the major seasonal Christmas markets beyond Germany's borders.
Visitors experience traditional German Christmas customs and foods like gingerbread, Nuremberg bratwurst, and mulled wine served hot. The craft stalls display wooden ornaments, tree decorations, and regional products that reflect the long-standing partnership between the two cities.
The market is easy to reach on foot and sits centrally in the business district, with all stalls freely accessible. Good footwear is advisable as the ground can become slippery depending on weather, and walking between stalls is part of the experience.
The market received recognition in 2023 as the leading Christmas market in the United Kingdom and ranked among Europe's top seasonal gatherings. This distinction highlights its status as one of the most significant festive events outside Germany.

It explores winter celebrations from the Arctic Circle to European historic centers, passing through major American cities. Each location offers its own interpretation of year-end festivities. The selection includes centuries-old markets such as Strasbourg's, which features three hundred chalets in the Alsatian capital, and Nuremberg's market with two hundred booths in the medieval old town. Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi welcomes visitors directly on the Arctic Circle, while New York showcases the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and the Santaland installation at Macy's.
