Emmanuel Church

Emmanuel Church is a Grade II listed building constructed from red brick with Gothic Revival features including high arches and stained glass windows. The structure displays ornamental details throughout its interior spaces.

The building was completed in 1903 and replaced an earlier church on Mill Lane. Architect John Alick Thomas designed this new religious center for the growing local community.

The south chapel houses a notable painting by Frank O. Salisbury that reflects religious art from the early 20th century. Visitors can see how this artwork remains part of the church's spiritual environment today.

The church operates with regular weekday services and Sunday eucharists for the local community. Access may be limited at certain times due to religious services, so arriving outside of service hours ensures better exploration.

Three accomplished musicians served as organists here: Martin Shaw, Henry Cope Colles, and Harold Darke. Their musical contributions enriched the spiritual life of the congregation over different periods.
