Ragdale Hall, country house in Leicestershire, UK
Ragdale Hall is a large red-brick country house in Leicestershire countryside near Hoby with Rotherby. The estate includes extensive gardens and grounds, and today operates as a spa hotel with thermal pools and various wellness facilities.
The building was constructed in 1785 as a timber structure called Rakedale Hall and served a local family as a hunting estate. After a fire destroyed it, the hall was rebuilt using red brick and subsequently passed through various owners, including the Cantrell-Hubbersty family who connected it to the famous Quorn Hunt.
The name derives from its original designation as Rakedale Hall in the late 1700s. Today visitors use the space for wellness and relaxation, while the old brick walls and grounds still reflect its past role as a hunting estate.
The estate is located near the A46 road and is easy to reach by car, though situated in a quiet rural area. Visitors should check in advance as operations vary seasonally and certain areas may only be accessible at particular times.
A distinctive feature is the thermal spa with hot and cold pools that opened in 2007, offering various water therapies. This wellness center was created by the owners of a famous record company and contrasts sharply with the estate's former hunting and club uses.
