The Building Centre is an exhibition and events venue focused on architecture and construction located on Store Street in central London. The building features reinforced concrete construction with Portland stone facades and was originally designed as a showroom for the Daimler car company.
The center was founded in 1931 as an information bureau of the Architectural Association to share knowledge about building materials and construction. After its original location was destroyed in 1941 during World War II, the institution moved to its current Store Street home in 1951.
The center serves as a meeting point where architects, students, and curious visitors learn about current developments in building design and construction. The exhibitions and workshops help people understand innovations in how buildings are conceived and made.
Entry to the ground and lower ground floor galleries is free, and specialized spaces like seminar rooms and photography studios are available for rent. The location is easily accessible on foot, with good public transport connections in central London.
