North London Coroner's Court, Coroner's Court and Grade II listed building in Wood Street, Barnet, United Kingdom.
The North London Coroner's Court operates from a municipal building with a symmetrical frontage, Ionic columns, and a central turret at 29 Wood Street. The facility handles inquests for five London boroughs including Barnet, Brent, Enfield, Haringey, and Harrow.
The building was designed in 1915 by architect William Bartlett Chancellor and originally served as Barnet Town Hall on a site previously occupied by the Old Barnet Brewery Company. Its conversion to a courthouse function came much later.
The structure displays English Baroque design with the town's coat of arms above the entrance and a semicircular pediment featuring a circular window. The interior spaces reflect its past role as a civic hall and continue to shape the character of the local center.
The building is open from 9 AM to 4:30 PM on weekdays and is easily accessible via Wood Street. Visitors should check in advance which proceedings are scheduled and whether registration is required.
The facility relocated to this location in 2009 following a comprehensive refurbishment, moving from its previous home on Myddelton Road in Hornsey. This relocation marked a new chapter in the building's history and its role as a judicial center.
