Following the increased criminal cases in southwest London during the 1990s, this courthouse replaced the former Sessions House in Surbiton to meet growing judicial demands.
The building stands on land that belonged to a 13th-century Royal palace and later housed the Third Kingston Scout Group until redevelopment in 1966.
The courthouse contains nineteen consultation rooms, video conferencing facilities, hearing enhancement systems, and maintains operations from Monday through Friday between 8:30 AM and 6 PM.
Court proceedings include specialized witness protection measures through strategically placed curtains in courtrooms to maintain confidentiality during sensitive testimonies.
