Cadair Ifan Goch

Cadair Ifan Goch, Summit and rock formation in Conwy County Borough, Wales.

Cadair Ifan Goch is a 207-meter summit featuring a prominent crag in Conwy County Borough, Wales. The rock formation overlooks the Conwy Valley and extends toward the Carneddau mountains.

This formation has served as a landmark for travelers crossing the Conwy Valley for centuries. The National Trust later acquired and now maintains the geological site.

The name comes from a giant in Welsh folklore who supposedly stood with one foot on this crag and another on a nearby peak. The story shows how the landscape has long been woven into local tales and imagination.

You can reach the summit by several hiking trails, so proper planning and navigation aids help with orientation. Landranger Map 115 and Explorer Map OL17E are useful tools for finding your way.

The crag offers views across the entire valley floor with sightlines reaching the Arenig mountains to the south. On clear days you can see multiple mountain ranges at once.
