The Church of St John the Evangelist stands at the intersection of South Bar Street and Dashwood Road, featuring Gothic Revival architecture from 1838.
Following the demolition of Warkworth Castle in 1806, where Catholics previously celebrated Mass, a chapel was established in Overthorpe before this church's construction.
The church maintains regular religious services with three Sunday Masses, providing spiritual guidance and community gatherings for local Roman Catholic residents.
Visitors can attend Wednesday masses at 9:30 AM, Thursday services at 9:30 AM, Friday worship at 10:00 AM, and weekend services on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
Augustus Pugin contributed to the church design in 1839, creating specific elements including the presbytery, chancel, fittings, and stained glass windows.
