The Old Town Hall, Grade II listed town hall in Berkhamsted, England

This Grade II listed building is a Victorian structure with Gothic Revival features standing on High Street. It features two stories, a prominent clock tower, and has been carefully maintained while adapting its ground floor for modern commercial use.

The building was constructed in 1859 to replace earlier Tudor-era structures at that location. Public support and private funding made possible the creation of this Gothic Revival municipal building.

The building displays Victorian details that tell stories of its role in community life. Visitors can observe how the spaces were designed to bring people together for civic purposes.

The building is easy to spot in the town center and straightforward to reach on foot. Although the interior is now privately used on the ground floor, the architectural features remain visible from the street.

The building nearly faced demolition in the 1970s, but local residents fought successfully through a ten-year campaign that concluded in court. This effort demonstrates how deeply the community valued preserving this landmark.
