The Old Town Hall, Grade II listed town hall in Berkhamsted, England
The Victorian municipal building stands on High Street with Gothic Revival architectural elements, a projecting clock, and a distinctive two-story layout.
Constructed in 1859 to replace a 16th-century town hall and Tudor market hall, the building was financed through public contributions and Earl Brownlow's support.
The town hall originally contained a Mechanics' Institute and served as a British Restaurant during World War II to feed evacuees from London.
The ground floor now functions as a restaurant space, while the exterior architecture remains preserved under Grade II listed building regulations.
Local citizens prevented the building's demolition through a ten-year campaign that concluded in the High Court during the 1970s.
