The Church of St Mary In The Wood stands on Commercial Street, featuring Gothic revival architecture with a prominent spire visible across the town.
Built between 1876 and 1878, the church replaced a medieval structure and served the local congregation until significant fire damage occurred in 2010.
The congregation continues their religious traditions at Wesley Street Room Central Methodist Church, maintaining their spiritual practices despite relocating from the original building.
Sunday services now take place at 10:30 AM in the new location, where approximately eight active members gather for worship and community activities.
Despite the devastating fire that affected much of the structure, the church spire remained standing as a reminder of the building's architectural heritage.
