Angles Theatre, Georgian theatre in Wisbech, England
Angles Theatre is a Grade II listed theatre in Wisbech, England, formed by two joined buildings: an original theatre structure and a former infant school from the 19th century. The auditorium seats around 112 people and is fully accessible for visitors with mobility needs.
The theatre opened in 1790 and was part of a regional circuit of connected venues until around 1850. After that it served as a concert room for some time before returning to theatrical use.
The Angles Theatre is a working part of Wisbech's community life, hosting local groups and independent companies on a regular basis. Attending a show here feels less like a formal night out and more like a shared local event.
The auditorium is small enough that sight lines are good from almost every seat. There is a bar inside the building that opens before and after performances.
In 1825, Madame Tussaud stopped here during her touring years in England and displayed her waxwork collection with a live military band playing alongside. It is one of the few stops on that tour to be named in contemporary records.
