Valley Cemetery, Historic cemetery in Manchester, US
Valley Cemetery spans 20 acres between Pine Street, Auburn Street, Willow Street, and Valley Street in downtown Manchester, New Hampshire.
The Amoskeag Manufacturing Company donated this land in 1840 for a public burial ground, leading to the official establishment in 1841.
The cemetery follows Victorian design principles with paths and bridges integrated into natural landscapes, representing 19th-century burial practices.
The Department of Public Works Cemetery Division manages this site, operating Monday through Friday from noon until 3 PM.
Thirteen private mausoleums house notable figures, including former New Hampshire governor Frederick Smyth and several Manchester mayors.
