Carr Mill Mall is a converted industrial building that now houses more than 25 local businesses, restaurants, and offices spread across multiple floors. The structure spans a ten-acre complex on North Greensboro Street, maintaining much of the original mill layout.
The building began as Alberta Cotton Mill in 1898 and later operated as a hardwood cross-tie manufacturer. It was transformed into a shopping center in 1977.
The place connects to local music history through Elizabeth Cotten, who grew up nearby and found inspiration in the railroad tracks around the mill. This musical heritage remains part of what makes the location meaningful to the community.
