Fort Wayne, Historic fort in Detroit, Michigan
Fort Wayne is a historic site located along the Detroit River in Detroit, Michigan.
The fort was built in 1845 and has served various purposes throughout its history, including as a military training facility during World War II.
Today, Fort Wayne is home to the Detroit Historical Society's collection of artifacts from the city's past.
Visitors can tour the original limestone barracks, explore the star-shaped fort, or attend one of the many events held there throughout the year.
Fort Wayne is one of the few remaining examples of pre-Civil War era military architecture in the United States.
