Hanson Field, Football stadium in Macomb, US
Hanson Field is a stadium in Macomb that hosts sporting events for Western Illinois University with a capacity of around 16,400 seats. The venue features an expansive hillside that surrounds the field and accommodates additional spectators during games.
The stadium opened in 1950 and was named after Rock Hanson, a former university coach and Marine veteran. It underwent major renovation work in 2007 that included new bleachers and improved facilities.
Two statues stand at the stadium entrances, including one depicting the bulldog mascot near the main gate. These figures shape the place's appearance and reflect the university's sporting identity.
The stadium is located on the Western Illinois University campus and is easy to reach from the main pathways. Visitors should arrive early to secure good seating, especially during larger games.
From 1996 to 2004, the NFL's St. Louis Rams used this field as their summer training camp location. This period made the stadium a special spot in professional football history for a brief time.
