Hermann Bridge, Steel bridge in Hermann, Missouri
The Hermann Bridge stretches 680 meters across the Missouri River, connecting Gasconade County with Montgomery County through a steel cantilever construction.
The original structure opened in 1930 and served the community until 2007, when it was replaced by the Christopher S. Bond Bridge.
Florence Mundwiller Kelley participated in ribbon-cutting ceremonies for both the 1930 original bridge and its 2007 replacement, spanning generations of local history.
The current bridge includes two 12-foot driving lanes, two 10-foot shoulders, and an 8-foot lane dedicated to bicycles and pedestrians.
Benjamin Price of McKittrick marked the 1930 bridge dedication by driving his mule team across the structure in the early morning hours.
