Keeneland is a thoroughbred racing track in Lexington, Kentucky. The venue includes two courses: one with a dirt surface and another covered in grass.
The racetrack opened its gates in 1936 on former farmland. Fifty years later, it received recognition as a national historic monument.
The Keeneland Library maintains collections of equine literature and hosts lecture series featuring notable figures from the thoroughbred racing industry.
Horse races take place in spring and fall, with the spring season covering fifteen race days. Some of these races serve as preparation for the Kentucky Derby in May.
The racetrack houses a library with collections on horse breeding and organizes lectures with personalities from the industry. It also hosts large auctions for thoroughbreds several times a year.
