Kittredge Mansion

The Kittredge Mansion is a three-story wooden building in North Andover with a clapboarded exterior and a hip roof. The central section is topped with a decorative railing and features a traditional center hall layout inside.

The building was constructed in 1784 for Joseph Kittredge and remained in family hands across generations. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 to honor its regional significance.

The architecture displays classical details from the late 1700s with refined columns at the corners and carefully designed windows throughout. These features reflect the prosperity that the Kittredge family held in the local community.

The property sits on Academy Road and includes expansive grounds surrounding the main building. Visitors should allow time to explore the surrounding gardens and the full extent of the grounds.

During the 1920s and 1930s, Doctor Joseph Kittredge operated a small sanitarium within the building. The family's medical service to the community thus continued under this new use.
