Lake Winnepesaukah, Amusement park in Rossville, Georgia, United States
Lake Winnepesaukah is an amusement park in Rossville, Georgia, covering more than 80 acres with 38 rides spread across the grounds. The attractions range from roller coasters and water rides to areas designed specifically for younger children.
The park opened on June 1, 1925, as a swimming and picnicking spot created by Carl and Minette Dixon for their first 5,000 guests. Over the decades, rides were gradually added to transform the grounds into a regional amusement destination.
The name comes from a Native American language and means bountiful waters and beautiful lake of the highlands. Families often return across generations, and many visitors remember riding the same attractions as children.
The park operates from May to December, and visitors under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The grounds are large, so comfortable shoes are recommended for a full day of exploring with family.
The Boat Chute from 1927 is the oldest operating mill chute water ride in the United States, designed by Carl Dixon himself. The ride sends visitors down a ramp in boats before splashing into the water below.
