Little Rock Zoo, Zoo in Little Rock, Arkansas

Little Rock Zoo is a large facility covering about 33 acres and home to over 500 animals from around 200 different species. The animal areas are organized into themed sections that try to recreate natural habitats where you can watch the animals up close.

The zoo started in 1926 with just two animals in its collection. Over the following decades, the city invested in its growth and it became the complete zoological facility you see today.

Visitors can learn about wildlife conservation and how different species live in their natural habitats through the zoo's exhibits. The place encourages people to think about protecting animals and their environments through what they see and experience here.

The zoo is open every day and has multiple food stands, restrooms, and paved pathways throughout for easy walking. Bring comfortable shoes and water with you, especially during warm weather when you will be walking in the sun.

The zoo houses one of only three remaining jump horses carousels in the world, built in 1924 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company. This historic ride is a rare survivor from another era and many visitors enjoy riding on the hand-carved horses.
