The eight-story MBA Building features granite cladding on the ground floor and terra cotta facades adorned with pilasters and sash windows above.
Built between 1916 and 1917, the Modern Brotherhood of America Building served as headquarters for a fraternal organization providing life insurance to 130,000 members.
The building's dedication ceremony in June 1917 included concerts, speeches by former President William Howard Taft, vaudeville performances, and Chinese acrobat shows.
The structure contains a marble-walled lobby with Ionic pilasters and retains numerous Classical Revival architectural elements throughout its interior spaces.
The MBA Building stands as the sole remaining early 20th-century office building in Mason City, with its original terra cotta exterior and decorative cartouches.
