Middle Run Valley Natural Area is a protected area in Delaware featuring forests, fields, creeks, and ponds spread across approximately 860 acres. The property offers numerous hiking and mountain biking trails that wind through its diverse natural environments.
This natural area was established in 1975 and has undergone continuous expansion since its creation. This growth allowed the development of its current trail system and diverse habitats.
The park functions as an educational center where staff organize regular programs about conservation and environmental protection for local communities.
The main entrance is accessible via a gravel road off Possum Hollow Road, from which visitors can access the trail system. About 10 miles of paths are available for both hikers and mountain bikers, depending on your fitness level and equipment.
Since 1991, a reforestation program has resulted in planting more than 50,000 trees and shrubs on the property. These plantings have helped restore forest areas and increase the site's biological diversity.
