Mine Creek Battlefield is a Civil War site in Linn County covering about 326 acres of preserved land. Mounted troops from both armies clashed here in cavalry engagements across open terrain.

History

Union and Confederate forces collided here in October 1864, shifting the course of warfare in the region. The outcome marked a turning point for control and influence over this part of the state.
