Morrill Hall, University building at Cornell University, Ithaca, United States.
Morrill Hall features Second Empire architecture with a mansard roof, constructed from Ithaca bluestone, forming part of the Stone Row on Arts Quadrangle.
Completed in 1868 as Cornell's first academic building, Morrill Hall cost $70,111 and initially contained separate wings for student housing, classrooms, and offices.
The Departments of Romance Studies, Russian Literature, and Linguistics occupy this National Historic Landmark, contributing to Cornell's educational mission.
The building now primarily uses its eastern entrances, connecting directly to the Arts Quadrangle where students gather between classes.
The original design required people to exit and reenter between sections as a fire safety measure until renovations in 1897 created interior connections.
