Roseland Park, Historic amusement park in Canandaigua, US.
Roseland Park was an amusement park spanning about 56 acres along Canandaigua Lake with rides including a Ferris wheel, bumper cars, and a miniature train. The grounds sat directly on the waterfront with a dance hall, food stands, and recreational areas for guests to enjoy the lakeside setting.
The park opened in 1925 as Lakeside Park and later took the name Roseland after its dance hall. It operated for 60 years before closing in 1985, marking the end of an era for lakeside amusement in the region.
The park served as a dancing and entertainment destination, with a ballroom inspired by New York's Roseland Ballroom drawing crowds for evening performances. People came here not just for rides but to experience live music and social dancing in a lakeside setting.
The park was easily accessible by car, unlike older parks that relied on trolleys, making it convenient for road trips. Food stands and waterfront areas provided practical amenities for spending a full day there.
A aerial ride called the Skyliner was built in 1960 with an unusual double path design that covered the park in a distinctive way. This ride was later moved to another amusement park, where it continues to operate today.
