Salisbury Mansion and Store, Colonial mansion museum in Worcester, United States
The Salisbury Mansion at 40 Highland Street is a colonial-era house with an attached former storehouse building spanning two floors. The structure combines residential and former commercial spaces into one complex.
Stephen Salisbury I built the structure in 1772 as both a residence and business headquarters for his hardware company S. & S. Salisbury. The family operated the enterprise there until 1820.
The mansion displays furniture and household objects from the 1800s that reveal how an affluent family lived. You can observe the arrangement of domestic spaces and the items that defined daily routines.
Guided tours are offered regularly and provide detailed information about the collections and historical details. Visitors should check ahead for opening hours and any special exhibitions being held.
The structure avoided demolition in 1929 through community efforts and was then relocated to its present location. This move preserved the building from being lost.
