Shattuck-Saint Mary's

Shattuck-Saint Mary's is a boarding school in Faribault, Minnesota, serving students in grades 6 through 12. The campus consists of limestone buildings set on raised terrain above the Straight River, with classrooms, dormitories, and athletic facilities spread across the grounds.

The institution opened in 1858 as an Episcopal mission school founded by Reverend James Lloyd Breck. By 1868, it had grown to include a military academy and a girls' school, which later merged under a single name.

The school maintains its Episcopal affiliation while operating specialized programs in engineering, bioscience, music, and athletics for students from various international backgrounds.

The campus offers multiple ice rinks, soccer fields, and specialized learning centers that serve students with different interests. About 70 percent of students live on campus and use the residential and recreational facilities.

The Chapel of the Good Shepherd was built in 1872 and funded by Augusta Shumway, who had lost her fortune in the Chicago Fire. She still devoted the money to constructing this chapel, which remains on campus today.
