St. Andrew's Church, Episcopal church in Staten Island, United States
St. Andrew's Church is a fieldstone church building with red brick trim located at the intersection of Arthur Kill and Old Mill Roads. The property spans about 2 acres and includes the main sanctuary, Burch Hall built in 1924, and the Moore-McMillen House rectory situated separately on the grounds.
The building originated in 1708 and served as a British military hospital during the American Revolutionary War. Following devastating fires in 1867 and 1872, it was reconstructed in its current form under architect George Mersereau's design.
The churchyard serves as a gathering place where visitors can read gravestones that tell stories of families who shaped Staten Island over centuries.
The grounds feature open areas where visitors can walk freely among the buildings and cemetery. Access to the property is generally available, though checking hours ahead of time helps ensure a smooth visit.
The structure blends Gothic and Romanesque elements in a way that reflects the experimental building style of the 1870s reconstruction era. This architectural mix from two different periods is uncommon among churches in the area.
