The cemetery dates back to 1654 when settlers established a burial ground, making it the oldest active cemetery in the Bronx.
The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance established its presence in the chapel in 2013, adding new artistic activities to this religious site.
The religious complex spans 6 acres and continues to serve the Episcopal denomination with regular services in Westchester Square.
The cemetery contains inscriptions from 1,024 monuments documented by James Minor Lincoln in 1909, representing three centuries of local history.
