Construction began in 1915 when Alfred Lunt purchased land near Genesee Depot, starting with a large room and gallery staircases. The property expanded over time into a larger complex as the owners added more buildings and spaces to meet their creative needs.

Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, prominent stage actors, used this property as a creative retreat where they welcomed fellow theater artists and performers. The estate served as a gathering place for people from the theater world who came to work and spend time together.

Guided tours are available from May through December, with advance reservations recommended for visiting. Plan for a few hours to explore the various buildings and grounds at a comfortable pace.
