The Round Barn Theatre, Regional theatre in Nappanee, Indiana, United States
The Round Barn Theatre is a regional performance venue in Nappanee, Indiana, housed in a circular barn structure built in the early 1900s. The building measures 60 feet (18 meters) across, holds around 375 seats, and operates alongside a steakhouse restaurant and coffee shop.
The building was constructed in 1911 as a working farm barn and served agricultural purposes for many decades. In 1998, it was moved about 12 miles to its current location and transformed into a theater.
The circular design creates an intimate connection between performers and audience members who sit close together from all angles. Visitors experience the shows from multiple perspectives, giving each performance a unique feeling that varies depending on where they sit.
The venue sits on West Market Street and shares its building with dining options for convenience. Arrive early to get oriented with the round layout and find your seat comfortably before performances begin.
The circular structure was reinforced with a 32-ton steel frame while keeping many original elements like wood beams and cupola intact. This blend of modern support and historic materials allows it to function as a theater while maintaining its rustic character.
