Wisconsin International Raceway, Racetrack
Wisconsin International Raceway is a motorsport facility in Buchanan, Wisconsin, featuring two paved oval tracks: a half-mile and a quarter-mile layout. The venue hosts multiple racing formats including stock car races on the larger track, Super Late Model competition, Figure-8 racing where the track crosses itself, and a dragstrip for quarter-mile straight-line racing.
The facility opened in 1964 as KK Sports Arena with a quarter-mile dirt track and was renamed Wisconsin International Raceway in 1971. The quarter-mile track was paved in 1968, and the half-mile oval was built around it in 1969, establishing the layout that remains today.
Named Wisconsin International Raceway since 1971, the track holds importance in the local racing community as a gathering place for motorsport fans. The venue brings together people who share a passion for racing, with events that draw both local drivers and spectators from across the region to celebrate the sport.
The track is located near Kaukauna and is easily accessible with ample parking available during events. The venue offers a welcoming environment for visitors and families, with free admission for children under 12 years old when accompanied by an adult.
The September Eve of Destruction event features unusual races where cars are chained together or drive backwards, and concludes with demolition-style shows involving school and transit buses. This event draws fans who appreciate unconventional racing and the unpredictable nature of motorsport.
