Whitehall Museum House
Whitehall Museum House, Colonial house in Middletown, Rhode Island, US.
The two-story Georgian residence features traditional wooden shingles, symmetrical windows, and period-appropriate architectural elements from the eighteenth century.
Built in 1760, this farmhouse gained prominence when philosopher George Berkeley purchased and expanded it, naming it Whitehall after the English royal palace.
The property functions as a museum displaying eighteenth-century furniture, decorative arts, and documents that represent colonial New England domestic life.
Visitors can explore the house through guided tours from June 15 to September 15, every Tuesday between 1 PM and 4 PM.
Berkeley established a Philosophical Society during his residence at Whitehall, which later developed into the Redwood Library and Athenaeum.
