St. Paul's Church, Edenton, Parish church in Edenton, United States

St. Paul's Church is a brick structure with five bays, a gable roof, and a square tower that exemplifies Georgian architectural design from the colonial period. The building features interior spaces arranged in the traditional style common to parish churches of that era.

The provincial assembly established the church in 1701, but construction took decades to complete, with the building finally finished in 1760. This extended building period reflects the limitations and priorities of the colonial era.

The churchyard holds the graves of Charles Eden, Thomas Pollock, and Gabriel Johnston, three leaders from North Carolina's earliest days. Their burial sites reflect how this place served as a center for the region's political leadership.

The church holds regular services and welcomes visitors who wish to explore its historic interior and churchyard. It is helpful to check local visiting hours in advance and dress respectfully when entering the building.

A severe fire in 1949 damaged the interior, but restoration work carefully recreated the nineteenth-century appearance while preserving original historical elements. This careful reconstruction allows visitors to experience the church as it appeared over a century ago.
