Bethel Green

Bethel Green is a two-story brick house in Virginia with a central passage floor plan and Greek Ionic columns on the porches. The property also includes a bank barn, granary, and shed that together form a complete farmstead complex.

Jonathan Brown built this house in 1857 as his residence on the estate. The structure was later recognized as a significant historical place and added to the national register.

The house displays rural architecture of the 1800s through its decorative details like scrolled lattice work and ornamental cornices. The porch design with columns and railings shows the craftsmanship of that period.

The property is located in Augusta County on about 21 acres of land near Greenville. It is best reached by car since the address sits somewhat outside town.

The building preserves its original granary and shed from before the Civil War, making it a rare example of a complete antebellum estate. These surviving outbuildings show how a farm operated at that time.
